William CANNON - Second Marriage Found on 15th July 1832!
Well ...... I didn't expect to breakdown that brick wall quite so quickly!
In my last post I mentioned that I was pretty sure William CANNON had married for a second time and to someone called Mary.
This morning, I thought I'd just search at familysearch.org for any marriage anywhere for William CANNON to a Mary between 1824 (when Maria died) and 1833 (when the next child was baptised).
I found a marriage in St George the Martyr, Southwark to a Mary SURIGE on 15th July 1832 ...... and the surname SURIGE rang bells! If you look at the previous post, Mary SURIGE was one of the Marys born in Gilston around 1800! A quick search at Ancestry and the marriage record is easily found and it also says that William was a Widower as further confirmation.
They both say they are 'of this parish' but I wonder why they felt they needed to get married all the way over in Southwark? Mary was 32, so didn't need the consent of a parent. However, this isn't the first marriage I've found happening in London rather than in the home parish.
